Women are…supposed to be
Set of rules and regulations- expectations
Reduced to relational roles, often no individualization,
Not all but nearly all boundaries dismissed, ignored, rationalized
Because she is a woman, in others’ vengeful validation her worth lies?
That will also never be given because…
Women are…supposed to be
Women are…supposed to be
Women are…supposed to be
Set of rules and regulations- expectations
Reduced to relational roles, often no individualization,
But what about…human?
Author’s Note: Life for women has got better due to change and the work of feminists in many places. In others, hell is their reality. And even in the best situations, whether it be men or women, unhealthy individuals and rigid social norms and gender roles can lead to loss of authenticity and happiness. These are just my two cents as a woman who genuinely feels she has it better than most but still has to deal with gendered social expectations like everyone else at some point. Yes, not all norms are harmful, but it would be nice to live in a more equitable world where authenticity was respected instead of seen as something to conquer.
