The Future

The future lies bleak it seems,
A wasteland full of corpses of fuels,

The sky the grey of exhaust fumes,

And fallen electric lines,

That once ran with power and light,

Now lie dead,
On a desolate concrete jungle,
Not a speck of green to be seen.
Vehicles lie upturned,
Nothing to power them,

It’s a desolate wasteland.

Is there no solution?

No hope for the generations yet to come?

Is climate change inevitable,
And are we all to drown in fallen glaciers?

Or is there a way?

To cover our carbon footprints?

And reduce the toll we have taken on nature?

The future lies bleak,
Unless we make a choice,
To turn towards sustainability,

To the best of our abilities.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle,

Compost and reduce e-waste,

Separate it from the biodegradable,

Save the worms,
Till the soil,

Starting an organic indoor garden,
Full of shrubs and trees.

Use paper and cloth,
Over plastic.

Desperate times call for desperate measures,

In water, air, school, economy, and farm.

Harvest rain,
Or else the future lies in vain.

Renewability over fuels,

Solar above carbon,

And so on,

Joint farming filled with

Orchards, forest products, and employment,

In a world heading towards war,
With nature and time,

It’s a call to arms,
A change of path,

Sustain what you have,
Use and preserve,
For the more you destroy,

The faster you will be destroyed.
