The city of joy glistens
Crown jewels put to shame-
Providing joy to all
The goddess arrives
With blessing anmol.
Yet as one dances and feasts
Someone else stares at the skies with hope and dreams-
Waiting for Maa to bestow upon them her blessings.
Life’s not the same for all
But the festival brings joy to each and everyone
Of us-
If we come together
In whatever way we can!
To welcome the goddess
And her joy
In our hearts and hearths
We dance, we sing, we travel, we feast,
As one,
Beyond differences made on paper,
As life come together.
Author’s Note: It’s the festive season where I live whether one celebrates Navratri or like my folks in Bengal, Durga Puja. But this year, many in Kolkata (and other parts of India) are seeing torrential downpours, reminding us that as we welcome prosperity and blessings, a healthy and resilient community is what tides us through dark times, whether that be fandoms, friends, family, or something else that vibes with you and supports you and you in turn support them however you can safely do, but of course we all have to make our own choices. At Anjali’s Musings do our part by donating 1% of all book sales and thank you for helping us do that.
And if like me, you are unable to do Navrati kadai, here’s my hack (with all due respect, apologies if it doesn’t work for your tradition) donate to underprivileged girls (and whoever else you want) or charity that feeds people. I have heard World Central Kitchen might be good but I haven’t donated there personally and don’t really know much about them.
Have a blessed time ahead and I thank you for your support, to read more of my work, you can check out the store.
