Do You Want to Start a Digital Career?

Are you interested in making money online? The digital age is here, after all. From blogging and affiliate marketing to owning an e-commerce store, the options are endless for someone with an internet connection and a good knowledge of their industry.

However, this landscape can be overwhelming for beginners. There are enough careers and tools on the market for you to get confused and end up spending your money on unnecessary tools. Or worse, missing out on necessary ones that will make managing your digital business easier.

The way out of this dilemma lies in an ancient proverb- knowledge is power. If you know which tools are necessary for a digital business and have a good knowledge of your industry, you will be able to discern which tools are necessary for your business. For example, as a blogger, I know that while I can write content to ensure that my blogs reach the most people, I will benefit from an SEO tool such as Yoast SEO.

How can you get access to this knowledge?

The process is simple.

Step One- Pick Your Niche

The first thing you need to do, what every creator needs to do, is pick your niche. While in blogging, this means the genre you will write blogs on; in the wider digital world, I use this world to indicate which type of business you will be running. Do you want to sell products from an e-commerce store? Or prints from Etsy? Perhaps you want to start a blog. Or become a video content creator. The options are endless.

Once you have decided what it is that you want to do, you can look further into the kind of digital tools available on the market and compare them with what your business needs.

Step Two- Know Your Needs

You have a unique set of skills. Your business has its own needs that might not all be within your skill set or that of your team. Knowing what part of your business needs to be automated or can benefit from being automated will help you pick what kind of tools you are looking for.

Step Three- Know the Tools Available

Know which digital tools are available and how they work. Do they have free versions? What can this tool do that a similar tool cannot? Is this tool easily integrated into your website? Does it violate any data privacy concerns? Your budget is another thing you have to look at when considering which tools to invest in. Knowing the tools on the market, what they do, how essential they are, and what alternatives are available is critical.

Once you know what your business is, its needs, and the tools you can use to satisfy those business needs, you will be able to pick which tools you need to run your digital business.
