When the water fills the road,
I wonder how the families on the street make it home
Who gives them shade from the torrent
Who helps them shelter against the cold?
I’ve done all I can
I’ve helped to the best of me
Yet I often chafe
Wondering if I can do more
So I lean on community, on humanity
On the idea of lending a hand
When you see someone in trouble
And help you can
The monsoons will go,
The floods will recede
My fever will too
Yet need seems to forever remain strong
But then so does solidarity I suppose.
Author’s Note- If you can help in any way, the people who are in need will appreciate it. Whether it’s sharing their stories, donating, volunteering time or goods or skills, or even living a low-impact and fair trade life as far as possible. And thank you for being here. You make my day.
