A land of chaos, lawlessness ruled here
In the era of stories molded to whatever we held dear
Niche it was still, and so we flew
Through AUs and Fix-Its
But through some rather nasty stuff too
Effected our psyche, it probably did.
But a reminder of how human when motivated
Can engage in feature length works without feeling
It remains-
Just for the love of characters and stories.
A land it is now ruled and rowed over,
But I was there when the old magic was written, witch
When the sites were fresh, the stories new
Taking into the era of the Internet a craft honoured by many and few-
And now I stand, to see
It’s effect on the popular media industry
Some good, some heinous
But to me,
All it primarily is
A memory of teenage years
Moulding and remoulding my favourite stories
Finding purpose
Finding community
And both a devastating and an amazing
Impact on my psyche
Depending on the trope I was reading.
Author’s Note- Thank you for reading! Hope this entertained. As we move into harsher winter days, le us remember to warm our souls and bodies, whether that is by reading or another healthy hobby. Which reminds me, how are you picking Christmas and holiday gifts? Personally I either donate essential supplies in the name of family or buy gifts from small and sustainable businesses when possible. Or write fanfiction for my loved ones. Let me know what you do! P.S.- Some of my poems might make great gifts, especially my latest A Bard’s Tale, available for free reading on Muses_Saga, and for purchase on my store and Flipkart.
