When it Ends

A poem on missing the people we love and life and death.

T/W- Mention of death

Every step you take is a step closer to our inevitable parting

Every moment gained together is a moment closer to when it ends

Who will be the first to go, I wonder, to that final road?

Sometimes I hope it is me,

The thought of a world without you tearing

Me apart like a pair of shears to clothing,

And yet love makes me pray

It is you who goes first to the final road

As much as I wish you never have to leave

For I would never wish that pain of loneliness, of separation

On the one I love beyond anyone else,

And yet, my heart can never truly pray for your demise

So I turn to life, letting go of the fears

Willing to enjoy every moment with you

So that when it ends, I have memories and strength

To find solace in.
